DTF Printing, Direct to Film

DTF Printing

DTF PRINTING

DTF – or Direct To Film – printing is a method of transfer production that has grown extremely popular since 2020. This process is similar to DTG printing, using water based inks that are printed to a special film. This printed film is then covered with a translucent ā€˜hot melt powder’, which is then cured by heat (typically oven or heat press) at around 120°C for 3 minutes. The result is a very thin, incredibly stretchy transfer that can be applied with a firm pressure at a very short time of just 20 seconds.

These transfers can then be heat pressed on virtually any fabric – whether it be black cotton, white polyester or any combination inbetween.

DTF Printing offers many advantages over older transfer methods, with faster and less fiddly production. Durability and washability is also superior to many traditional methods such as HTV, laser transfer and inkjet dark papers.

Our range includes everything needed to get you started, including printers, inks, films and DTF hot melt powders.
